He said, the administration and the library must go hand in hand for the success of education of the students. The library and the li

In making syllabi and other teaching aids, faculty could consult the librarian for the necessary needed books and pertinent materials for their classroom presentation. Written by Wilma Luna - High School Library Monday, 18 July 2011 11:57

I was given the opportunity to attend last July 13, 2011 the Lecture-Forum entitled “Library Service and Teaching Portfolio” with the theme on Collecting and Creating a Professional’s Best. It was sponsored by the Philippine Association of Academic and Research Librarian (PAARL) in line to the celebration of 15th Philippine Academic Book Fair held at the SM Megamall Seminar Room.
The guest speaker was Mrs. Rhea Rowena U. Apolinario, a young and energetic professor at UP School of Library Information Studies. She quoted that developing more professional competencies is a must for continuing professional education. After gaining proficiency skills, librarian aptitude and competence while expressing thoughts and ideas, should have been demonstrated in speech and in writing as well, that why she encourage the librarian to start organizing their Librarian’s Portfolio.

OUTREACH AT THE LIMALI FOUNDATION
Written by Jacque Lucero - Law Library Friday, 11 March 2011 14:39

The Library Department conducted an outreach program at the LIMALI Foundation (Lingkod Mamamayan at Lipunan FOundation at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in San Mateo Rizal last March 6, 2011.
LIMALI Foundation was organized by Fr. Jose Tin-ga. It caters to the community near the dumpsite at San Mateo Rizal. Every Sunday, children of mostly scavengers came at the Our LAdy of Sorrows church to celebrate the Divine Liturgy. After hearing the mass, volunteer workers feed the children and educate them at the same time
There were more or less 180 families in the community and most of them live as scavengers, earning 90-120 pesos a day to feed their children. Some of them are going to school already but those younger one's are sometimes left alone on thier own since thier parents are working

at the dumpsite. It is with earnest desire to somehow keep, feed and educate the children even though they lived in an unfortunate sorroundings.
The LIMALI Fundation is striving to help the community which mostly are urban settlers form Manila (they were relocated there by the government) in every way they can. It is a sad realization that there is no water supply at the area, well in fact, La Mesa Dam is just at the far end of the site. People there are solely depending on 1 deep well, electricity is also not yet available for those people living at the mountain.
We are one in calling for help for the children and community of the LIMALI Foundation. May more people find in their hearts the eagerness to give and share to others.
